The line running through the fabric is fiber distortion caused by improper cleaning
This beautiful cotton velvet couch now suffers from what we in the business call “fiber distortion.” The cleaner probably hooked up their super soaker to clean the fabric causing the nasty line through the fabric. It’s 100% the cleaner’s fault and it’s really difficult to remove. (For the record, this never happens when you do business with us).
The couch cushion now resembles a terry cloth towell
This is the seat of the same couch. Unfortunately, over-agitation caused the fibers to “bloom” causing it to look much like a terry cloth towel and not fine velvet. Fabrics of this type need to be cleaned with the lay of the nap and then groomed with a special brush. Often, it needs to be brushed again when dry.
